Who We Are

Designing Tomorrow's Living Spaces Today

Studio workspace

Our Story

Started back in 2012 when three of us were sitting in a cramped coffee shop arguing about why buildings didn't need to look like concrete boxes. We figured if we're gonna spend our lives designing spaces, might as well make 'em count for something.

What began as sketches on napkins turned into a full-blown studio obsessed with making architecture that doesn't just stand there looking pretty - it actually works with the environment instead of against it. We've messed up, learned a ton, and somehow convinced people to let us keep doing this.

Toronto's been our home base since day one. The city's energy, its weird mix of old and new, that's what keeps us going. We're not about following trends or winning fancy awards (though those are nice). We're about creating spaces that'll still make sense 50 years from now.

How We Think

Forget the corporate speak - here's what actually drives us every morning

01

Nature's Not Optional

We've seen too many buildings that treat the planet like it's disposable. Every project we touch has to answer one question: how's this gonna reduce impact, not add to it? Solar integration, natural ventilation, local materials - that's baseline stuff for us now.

02

People Actually Live Here

A building's gotta work for the humans inside it. Sounds obvious, right? But you'd be surprised how many designs forget that people need natural light, proper air flow, and spaces that don't feel like they're in a sci-fi dystopia.

03

Context Matters

We don't drop the same design everywhere and call it a day. Each site's got its own story - the neighborhood, the climate, the culture. Our job's to listen to that and respond honestly, not impose some cookie-cutter vision.

04

Future-Proof, Not Future-Proof

We're designing for decades ahead, which means being flexible. Climate's changing, tech's evolving, how people use space is shifting. Buildings need to adapt without requiring a complete teardown every 10 years.

The Team

The folks making it happen

Sarah Chen
Founding Principal

Sarah Chen

Studied at Waterloo, spent 5 years at a big firm before deciding to do things differently. She's the one who keeps us honest about sustainability - won't sign off on anything that doesn't meet her standards. Obsessed with passive house design and somehow makes meetings actually productive.

Marcus Okonkwo
Design Director

Marcus Okonkwo

The guy who can sketch a full concept in 10 minutes that'd take most people days. Came from Nigeria to study at U of T, worked on projects across three continents. He's got this ability to see how spaces flow before they're even built. Also makes killer jollof rice for office lunches.

Elena Volkov
Technical Lead

Elena Volkov

If there's a structural challenge, Elena's already figured out three solutions before you finish explaining the problem. Background in civil engineering means she catches issues before they become expensive mistakes. She's saved our butts more times than we can count. Terrible at poker though.

James Park
Interior Specialist

James Park

Joined us fresh out of OCAD and immediately proved he's got an eye for how people actually move through spaces. His interior concepts make cold buildings feel human. Also our go-to for finding local artisans and sustainable material sources. Weekend warrior at vintage furniture markets.

Priya Kapoor
Urban Development

Priya Kapoor

Knows Toronto's zoning laws better than most city councillors. Came from urban planning background which means she thinks about how buildings fit into neighborhoods, not just on their lots. She's the reason our projects actually get approved without years of red tape battles.

Why We Do This

Look, architecture can be pretentious. Lots of fancy words that don't mean much. But when you get down to it, we're designing the places where people live their actual lives - where they wake up, where they work, where they build memories.

That responsibility keeps us up at night in a good way. Every choice we make - from window placement to material selection - affects someone's daily experience and the planet's future. We take that seriously but try not to take ourselves too seriously.

The climate crisis isn't some abstract thing happening somewhere else. It's here, it's now, and buildings are a massive part of the problem. Which means they can also be part of the solution. That's what gets us fired up - knowing that good design can actually make a difference.
